Literacy Leaders

As part of our drive to provide enrichment opportunities for enthusiastic Readers and Writers, 8 Year 5 and 6 pupils have been chosen to act as Literacy Leaders with the first part of the new role to be to support some younger pupils with their reading. The older pupils have been trained in book introductions by our specialist reading teacher and they are already thoroughly enjoying their role.

         

The pupils meet with their younger reading partner each morning before lessons and they spend time in the school library reading with them and sharing their love of everything book related. 

     

The Year 3s and 4s are benefitting from:

•Social interaction with older pupils

•Frequent prolonged reading

•Learning and testing High Frequency Words
