Distance Learning Plan

 Online learning

How to use the VLE for parents

  • Class teachers will spend time on the school’s VLE up to 3 times per week and will communicate when they will be online via each class’s webpage so that children can contact their teachers, send images or other activities for feedback and stay in touch.
  • If teacher’s receive work, they will give feedback via the school VLE and will share excellent work on their class webpage.
  • Teachers will also regularly check the VLE, MYMaths, Timestables Rockstars, Code.org and ReadTheory (Year 6) and give feedback to children on activities completed online.

 Home learning

  • Children for whom we have a registered email address will be sent a selection of activities to complete up to 3 times per week
  • Home Learning Projects provide numerous opportunities for keeping children busy should they complete all of their online or printed activities - access Nursery, Year 1, Reception, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 Learning Projects and online activities by clicking the year group (Year 1 to follow soon)
  • You can also click this link below to get access to hundreds of worksheets across all areas of the curriculum.
  • Google Drive Home Learning worksheets
  • If you do not have a printer at home, children can view the worksheets on the screen and answer in the home learning book that they took home before the school closure started.

Activities will be varied and could include the following:

  • Project ideas
  • Details of short writing activities
  • A reading text with questions or other reading activity
  • Research tasks or other activities linked to history or geography topics
  • Maths activities including links to an online video detailing teaching for that concept
  • A physical challenge – for example, a link to a dance video with a challenge to learn that dance

For children for whom we do not have a registered email address, we are working on a plan to deliver paper copies of activities but in the meantime, there will soon be a list on the school website of online activities that they can do at home.
