Week 9: Set on Tuesday 19th May 2020:

Week 9- On and Under Water ow and oi sounds Pirate Maths activities  Under the sea rhyming words

To all of our wonderful children in Reception Class

I hope you are all keeping well and finding lots of fun things to keep you busy. I am sending week 9 home learning, which is all about ‘On and Under Water’. There are several books to watch and listen to this week and a lot of them are about Pirates!

It is half term next week and as you all deserve a well-earned break (including your grown-ups), there will be no home learning. Don’t worry though, I will continue to send home learning the week after.

I know you are all missing each other and the teachers, but you have been doing a great job of keeping safe at home. I know many of you have enjoyed my videos in the blog section on the VLE and thought you might like to record one of yourself for your friends to see. Why not have a try? Ask a grown up to video you saying a message to us all. I am really looking forward to seeing them!

Have a fantastic week and also enjoy half term.

Lots of love from

Miss Zakaszewski xxx

Week 8: Set on Tuesday 12th May 2020:

Week-8- Fruits and Vegetables ar and ur sounds Resources

To Reception Class

It has been lovely speaking to some of you this week and of course your grown ups too! It is great to hear that you are all happy and doing well at home.

I have loved seeing a few more of you putting pictures on our VLE. Well done everyone, I can see you are using the home learning projects I am sending each week and your work is fantastic! I have sent you this week’s learning which is all about ‘Fruit and Vegetables’. I hope you have lots more fun with this topic.

I have loved reading your comments on my story telling video. For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, log on to our VLE and in the blog section you will find a video of me reading ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. I am going to read a new story each week and will aim to upload these onto the VLE on a Thursday.

It was great to see so many of you celebrated VE Day last week. We had a lovey day, thankfully the weather was nice and we were able to sit in our own front garden and have a cup of tea and bit of cake. Archie had a great time! Here is a picture of him eating his cake.

Please keep sharing your photos, work and messages on the VLE, I really do love hearing from you.

Keep up the good work everyone and take care of yourselves.

Love from Miss Zakaszewski xxx

Week 7: Set on Tuesday 5th May 2020:

Week 7- Plants and how to care for them oa and oo sounds Play dough recipe VE Day Resources

To all the lovely children in Reception Class

Well done to those that have managed to upload a picture on the VLE, I can see that you have been very busy and am thrilled to see that you are using some of the ideas that I am sending home each week. If you haven’t tried yet, maybe you could get a grown-up to help this week; I miss your happy, smiley faces and would really love to see a photo.

I have sent you this week’s learning (week 7) which is all about ‘planting plants and how to care for them’. I have also given you a few ideas on VE Day which is on Friday 8th May. People in my village are planning VE Day parties, which sound like a lovely way to celebrate!

Again, thank you to all the grown-ups who emailed me on our new class address.  Can I ask that those who haven’t already done so, please email me so I have your email address saved. Please include your child’s name in the message so I know who’s Mummy and Daddy are who!

I am going to be in school on at the beginning of next week and plan on phoning everyone again just to see how you all are.

I am looking forward to seeing your fabulous pictures and speaking to you or your grown-ups.

Missing you lots and lots.

Week 6: Set on Tuesday 28th April 2020:

Week 6 - Minibeasts and Life Cycles ee or and igh sounds Year 1 and 2 HF words How many legs? PPT

Hello Reception Class

I hope you are all keeping well. It is fantastic to see you are doing so much learning at home. I really am impressed with everyone’s efforts, I know it is very different working at home instead of together in school, but you are all doing a brilliant job!

I am happy and safe. Baby Archie is keeping me very busy at home, although we don’t like this drizzly weather quite as much as the beautiful sunshine we have been getting used to. Last week we made some delicious cookies and I have been teaching Baby Archie how to ride a tricycle.

I have sent you this weeks learning which is all about Minibeasts and life cycles. I am hoping the weather brightens up a bit so we can take some of our learning outside, however the rain never stops us in Reception class and as long as you dress properly, you could still go out and explore.

Thank you to all the grown-ups who emailed me on our new class address.  Can I ask that those who haven’t already done so, please email me quickly so I have your email address saved. Please include your child’s name in the message so I know who’s Mummy and Daddy are who!

Well done to those of you who have learnt all of the Reception High Frequency words. I have sent the list of Year 1 and 2 High Frequency words for any children who have nearly finished theirs too.

I am looking forward to seeing some of your photos and reading messages this week. Have you looked on the VLE recently? Children have been sharing some lovely photos with us all and I loved the binoculars that were made from last week’s learning project.

Keep up the good work everyone! I miss you.

Week 5: Set on Tuesday 21st April 2020:

Week 5 - Transport ng and ai sounds

To all the wonderful children in Reception Class

I hope you have all had a fabulous Easter holiday. Did the Easter Bunny visit you? He came to my house and Baby Archie had a little hunt in the garden! We are enjoying seeing our smiley neighbours on a Thursday evening, when we stand on our door step to clap as loudly as we can! Have you been doing this at your house? It is a really lovely way to say thank you and to show how proud we are of all the people helping at the moment.

This will be week five of staying safe at home and I hope that you are all now settled and into a bit of a routine at home. I miss you all terribly and love seeing your photos you send me. Did you see the photos of all the teachers at school?

I have been given a class email address so that your grown ups can message me now and ask any questions. It will be lovely to hear from them. Can you ask them to email me quickly so I have their email address saved? Please ask them to include your name in the message so I know who’s Mummy and Daddy are who!

Stay safe and keep smiling.

Lots of Love from Miss Zakaszewski xxx

Two week Easter Holiday: Set on Tuesday 7th April 2020:

Week-3 and 4: Lets Celebrate Easter sh th sounds Numberblocks Easter Eggs

Good morning Reception Class!

As we enter into our third week of being at home, I would like to give you all a very big WELL DONE! J  Lots of you have been logging into our VLE and I have loved seeing all your messages, pictures and videos. If you haven’t logged in yet, please ask a grown-up to help you.

It is very nearly Easter and usually we would have broken up from school for a two week Easter holiday. I have attached an exciting learning project all to do with Easter, which has lots of activities you could do at home for the next two weeks.

I hope you are all being very good for your grown-ups and having lots of fun too. I miss you all so much, please keep on sending me pictures and videos of yourselves; it really does brighten my day and baby Archie finds the videos very funny!

Happy Easter to you and all your families. Take care and keep smiling.

Lots of love from

Week-2: Where I live qu ch sounds

Hi Reception Class

I hope you are all well. I am trying to phone all your grown ups this week and have already had some lovely conversations. It sounds like you are all working hard! I have put up your new home learning for the next week and have also given you two new letter sounds for in your sound book.

Well done to those who have already messaged me on the VLE, for those of you who are having problems, you can comment below my link on the forum or upload your photos there for me to see (in the forum section).

Enjoy the next week.

Week 1: Set on Tuesday 24th March 2020:

Week-1: My Family

To all the amazing children in Reception Class

I hope you are all well and enjoying this wonderful sunshine that spring has brought us!

I am already missing you lots but it is very important for us all to stay safe at the moment; the grown-ups who look after us and our country have asked us to help by staying inside our homes for a while. Because of this, I will be staying in my house, looking after baby Archie and you must stay in yours and look after your family too.

I am hoping that you will all have a wonderful time and have lots of free time to play nicely with the people you live with. You might even like to help your grown-ups around the home! Because we won’t be seeing each other in school for a while, I have sent you some work to do at home. I would like you to do a little bit every day and then you can go and play. Please don’t be difficult for your grown-ups about this, you are all very good at school and I am looking forward to hearing how good you have all been at home.

I will sent you a new sheet each week, with lots of fun ideas of thing you could do at home.

Have fun, be good and stay safe.

Love from

Miss Zakaszewski and all your teachers

  Reception Summer 2019 Leaflet

Welcome to the Reception Class Web page

Our class teacher is Miss Zakaszewski and our Teaching Assistants are Miss Watkin (full time), Mrs Siddique (mornings) and Miss Adkin (afternoons). We are also supported by Mrs Morrison on a Monday afternoon and Mr Olde who helps us with our PE.

Autumn – First Half Term

We have spent a lot of time settling in to our new class, getting to know our new teachers and meeting new friends.

Our topic has been ‘Marvellous Me’. Each week we have focused on a different area about ourselves. We have talked a lot about our families and have learnt about our different body parts and senses.

We have looked at how we grow and how we can keep ourselves healthy.

We had great fun brushing our teeth at school!

We love our healthy school dinners.

We have spent time enjoying the outside environment and kept strong by climbing.

We have also been practising lots of writing, especially writing our names and becoming confident to mark make and form some letters. We have started learning some of our phonic sounds and have had great fun learning the actions.

We have done lots of counting with Numberblocks, been learning what the different numbers look like and have even been exploring the different 2D shapes.

We are all enjoying exploring our creativity and have made some lovely works of art.

Autumn – Second Half Term

This half term our topic has been ‘Celebrations’.

We have focused on different occasions that people around the world celebrate.

We have been learning about Birthdays, Halloween, Bonfire Night, Eid, Diwali and Christmas.

We have started using the large apparatus for PE and can even change our own clothes now!

We had our first school trip to the cinema and we were given special 3D glasses to wear.

We are all getting very good with our phonics and are starting to sound out some words by ourselves.

Miss Zakaszewski has been very impressed with our writing. We are finding lots of different reasons for writing and have loved making our own cards and letters.

We have been practising our counting and have had a go at writing numbers.
