Admissions
For primary school aged children, the local authority decides admissions to Booker Hill School. Parents should contact the local authority (link accessible here) to find out about primary school admission arrangements.
Admission Procedures for The Foundation Stage (children aged 4-5)
Booker Hill School's Published Admission Number is 30 children in the Reception Class. Children start in the September of the academic year of their fifth birthday.
Parents are welcome to make an appointment to visit the school preferably when children are present. Please contact Mrs Harris the school secretary.
All children intending to start their education at Booker Hill will be integrated into school through involvement in two story time visits during the Summer term to get to know their teacher and become familiar with the school.
The Head teacher and Reception teacher hold a meeting in the summer term to give information to parents about the school including the PTA and uniform and also to answer any questions.
All applicants must fill in the Local Education Authority application form. These forms are now sent directly to Aylesbury who complete the admissions procedure. Once this has been done parents are informed by letter whether their application has been successful.
Selection and Oversubscription Criteria
Children are admitted to Booker Hill School according to the Local Education Authority criteria, which is as follows:
- Children who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs which name the school.
- Children in public care for whom the Local Authority decides that the school is the most appropriate.
- Children who have exceptional medical, educational or social needs, which can only be met at that school, supported by written evidence from an appropriate professional person.
- Children living in the catchment area of the school.
- Siblings of children who are attending the school in Reception - Year 5 at the time the allocations are made or have already been offered a place to start in the current academic year at the school.
- Once the above rules have been applied, then any further places will be offered in distance order, using the distance between the family's normal home address and the school's nearest entrance gate, offering the closest first. They use the shortest appropriate route.
